Created by the late Gilbert Baker, also known as “the Gay Betsy Ross”, the Giant Key West Rainbow Flag was originally 1.25 miles long. This community-driven celebration is important because of the presence of the Giant Key West Rainbow Flag, which is on display, hanging from the exterior façade of the building located at 2901 East Baltimore Street. Due to COVID-related restrictions, many of Baltimore’s annual Pride events have been cancelled. This unique, community-driven event responds to an expressed need for recognition and celebration that was expressed by LGBTQ residents living in the Patterson Park area.
